Russian paratroopers have been rehearsing killing terrorists today, as remarkable pictures show servicemen leaping from a plane during military exercises north of Moscow.

The 98th Guards Airborne Division of the Russian Airborne Troops was in action over the village of Budikhino, eastern Russia - facing off against several of their brothers in arms who had dressed as terrorists for the exercise.

And in dramatic images, paratroopers are seen diving out of a Ilyushin Il-76 plane before landing in a cloud of smoke as explosions are set off as part of the exercise.

Once on the ground, several of the troops entered combat vehicles to destroy a mock illegal armed group's base armed with servicemen acting as terrorists.
