The Hill: Trump to meet with national security team on Afghanistan peace plan

President Trump will meet with his national security team Friday afternoon to discuss a pending peace agreement with the Taliban, according to multiple reports.

A senior administration official confirmed to reporters that Trump will meet with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at his resort in Bedminster, N.J., but would not give details on the meeting’s topic.

Multiple news outlets reported that the topic will be the 18-year-old war in Afghanistan. The official did not dispute that.

The official added that Trump has “been pretty clear” about his desire to withdraw from Afghanistan.
