Iraq's Prime Minister says the country needs to do more to tackle corruption as the death toll rises to 44 after three days of anti-government protests.
In a televised address, Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi said security measures imposed in the wake of this week's violence, including a curfew, was like a 'bitter medicine' that needs to be swallowed.
Mr Abdul-Mahdi spoke after three days of demonstrations that have spread across many provinces in the country.
