Global News: One year after minority win, Liberals teeter on verge of possible election 

One year after Canadians sent the Liberals back to work governing with a reduced minority mandate, the government is teetering on the edge of a possible election call after declaring the vote on a Conservative committee motion will be a matter of confidence. 

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was accused by Conservatives on Monday of “throwing down the gauntlet” in the midst of the second deadly wave of COVID-19 over opposition to a motion calling for the creation of a special committee tasked with probing the propriety of government spending. 

Originally billed as an “anti-corruption” committee, the name is set to be changed on Tuesday in a vote taking place just ahead of the confidence vote on the motion itself.

WNU Editor: The Liberals under Prime Minster Trudeau definitely want an election. They see themselves running high in the polls, and they do not want an anti-corruption committee to be formed on how billions in Covid-19 aid has been spent. My prediction. It all depends on how one party, the NDP, will vote in a non-confidence vote slated for 4:00 PM EST today. I know the NDP do not want an election, and I expect them to either abstain and/or vote in support of Trudeau's Liberals.
