 * The old nuclear bomber needed to be able to take off in a hurry during the Cold War, regardless of weather conditions. 

A new video from the U.K. shows off a unique capability baked into the B-52 bomber: the ability to fly with the landing gear facing a different direction than that of the aircraft. 

The bomber appears to be out of control and on the verge of being blown off the runway, but in reality, it's merely compensating for a strong crosswind.
