U.S. Midterm Elections Update: No Red Wave. Democrats Keep Control Of The US Senate. Republicans May Win Control Of The House
WNU editor: The polls were wrong. The pundits were wrong. No red tsunami.
President Biden was right. On the eve of the election he said it will be difficult for the Democrats to hold the House, but the US Senate was close. That is exactly what the situation is this morning.
A few days ago I said in a normal situation when the ruling party was facing re-election with runaway spending, high interest rates, high inflation, high energy prices, a completely broken border, soaring crime rates, growing homeless camps in the major cities, recession, and multiple crisis abroad that even includes waging an undeclared war against Russia .... that ruling party will be toast. That in this election cycle the Republicans should be walking walking away with a minimum of flipping 4 or 5 senate seats, and even more (45+ seats) in the House of Representatives.
But we do not live in normal times.
When someone like John Fetterman who is suffering from the aftermath of a stroke and who cannot even articulate a coherent sentence, let alone know what a person is saying to him, flips and wins a US Senate seat convincingly, you know there is something wrong.
When the Northeast of the U.S., facing crippling high heating oil costs and shortages brought about by the anti-oil policies of the Democrats still end up voting for them, and overwhelmingly, you know there is a problem.
And don't get me started on a California and Washington state and who won the governorship of Arizona.
Bottom line.
A lot of Americans support the policies of President Biden.
And on the local level, whether you are in New York city, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, the Bay area, Portland, Seattle, Chicago, Washington DC, etc., there is overwhelming support for a continuation of these policies.
This support for the Democrats and their policies has translated into the following.
Flipping the governorship of two Republican states.
Unless the Democrats find some hidden ballots somewhere, they are going to lose the Nevada senate seat, and will fall short on flipping the US senate seat in Wisconsin. It all comes down to Georgia where Democrat senate candidate Warnock may fall just short of the 50% threshold necessary to win, but is well positioned to win in the run-off. In the end this will mean Democrat control of the US Senate.
The Republicans are trending to win control of the House of Representatives, but if they do their majority is going to be razor - thin with only a handful of seats.
